Why Are We Such Fans Of Rock Music?

Why are we so compelled to be such fans of the rock era? When you really think about it, the answer doesn’t come easy. I have always been compelled to write about being a fan of rock music but what is there to write about that hasn’t already been written? I have the answer to that. I have decided to write about what I love. Why I am so mesmerized by the sounds that surround me every day.

When I was a kid somewhere around 7 or 8 years old I used to lay on the floor with the speakers to the family stereo up to my ears. Or I guess the Hi-Fi is what they called it at the time and just for the record it was around 1964 or 65. I can remember listening to every Beatles album up to that time. I would lay there on the floor and be a part of the Beatles. In my mind I was every one of them at one point or another. I was an instant fan of rock music. I still remember every song word for word.

As I got a little older I ended up with a stereo in my own room and really started listening to lots of different bands. I started listening to Cream, The Stones, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Black Sabbath, Santana, The Who and many, many more. The music of that era started becoming the anchor in my life. Everything I did revolved around the music. The 60s, The 70s, The music, it was my life.

Some of you who are reading this article know me from that era as we hung out together or went to school together and some of us lived in the same area and street. We have had the luxury of living in an area that was popular with rising rock stars who found peace in the area and could live among us as just another resident. I have had the good fortune to have met and even partied with a few.

So you see why I am such a fan of rock music. It has been a part of my life for 43 years now and even with some of the bands that are on the rise today, I am a very big fan. So far rock music has not been in danger of getting old for me and I don’t think it ever will. I have been to many rock shows old and new bands and still enjoy myself as much as I did back in the 70s

Now that I have told you my story how about you guys sharing yours. I have lots of memories to share and I will. I also know that most of you have many of your own and I am sure we would all love to hear about it. It’s really easy to do.
